Bruce Smith

Virginia native Bruce Smith is co-developer of Live! Casino & Hotel Virginia through his company, Bruce Smith Enterprise. Bruce attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk and then played college football at Virginia Tech, where he was a twice All-American and elected to the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. He spent 19 years in the NFL, playing for both the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins, and is considered one of the greatest defensive ends of all time. Since finishing in the NFL, Bruce has specialized in the development of premier mixed-use projects. His development portfolio includes the Hyatt House, 27 Atlantic luxury apartments, Smith’s Landing Apartments and Hilton Garden Inn at Virginia Tech. Bruce also co-developed the Cosmopolitan Apartments & Blocks 7 & 10 at The Town Center in Virginia Beach. He has served on numerous charitable boards including St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Operation Smile. Bruce has worked with The Cordish Companies as a development partner since 2008.
