Gaming & Entertainment District in Petersburg, VA, proposed by The Cordish Companies & Bruce Smith Enterprise. Cordish is one of the largest, most respected developer-operators of upscale mixed-use, entertainment and casino resort destinations in the United States. It’s Live! brand is one of the most recognized and established entertainment and casino brands in the country. Bruce Smith Enterprise was founded by Bruce Smith, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and Virginia native. For over 20 years, Smith has invested in Virginia communities, successfully building both residential (Smith’s Landing Apartments, 27th Street luxury apartments) and hotel (Hyatt House, Hilton Garden Inn at VA Tech) properties. The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise have been collaborating together since 2008.
The project is located right off the Wagner Road Exit of Interstate I-95. The Live! Gaming & Entertainment District will facilitate the City’s vision for the area, creating a regional entertainment and hospitality attraction that will enhance the neighborhood, generate spin-off economic development and provide thousands of jobs for area residents.
The Live! Gaming & Entertainment District will generate over its first 10 years more than $2.8 billion in economic benefits, $240 million in incremental revenue to Petersburg, and create more than 7,500 jobs. Located at the intersection of Wagner Road and Interstate I-95, the Live! Entertainment District will offer easy access on and off the east coast’s major north-south interstate.
